It's also a short, which this season had several of, something that hasn't been seen since season 5. This season also tries a ton of new ideas that are pretty out-there for this series- Dream Hoppers, while it does start with dialogue, is in fact silent for the rest of the episode and its story is 100% visually told. I have no idea how they managed to take a premise about SpongeBob's alarm clock breaking and turn it into a visual masterpiece and an eargasm (Broken Alarm). Some episodes can be 100% comedy-driven from start to finish like Jolly Lodgers, Insecurity Guards, and Squid's on a Bus, some have somehow really good stories that wouldn't be out of place in 9B or 4 like Karen's Baby, The Krusty Bucket, and Plankton's Old Chum, and others can just be. I like to consider this season the brainchild of 9B and 10-11 since it took the best of both of those seasons and left out any negatives, and you end up with such a wild bag of episodes. Was I crazy to say that? Maybe, but it doesn't obstruct the fact that this season is really good and the best full post-sequel season. I never truly watched anything of season 12 until late 2019 (minus Blowout, I watched that live), but I remember that when I did watch it, it was a season I loved a lot, to the point where I was even considering calling it my favorite season. I have no idea why they released this entire season on DVD so early when, at the time, a good portion of season 12 still remained unaired. Honestly, the horrendous schedule up and up killed my passion for this series back in late 2020, and this bad scheduling went from being kinda funny to downright sad and infuriating.
Yes, I do know that Nickelodeon has withheld two specific episodes for obvious reasons (despite the fact they said they wouldn't), but then there's also Patrick's Tantrum which still hasn't aired. To date, season 12 is still not officially done airing and the only reason why this scorecard is able to be made now as opposed to never is because this entire season got leaked far in advance. It's not getting any better either, with season 13 being the same length as season 10 but not even having half of the episode aired ONE YEAR LATER. The airing schedule for season 12 is the worst it's ever been, and this series' schedule altogether collapsed in on itself by 2020. It's been nearly 3 years since I last uploaded a new SpongeBob scorecard, and that's because of the fact this season refuses to fully air.
